25 July 2021 - Bring my soul out of prison

Job 36:8 NLT “..they are bound in chains and caught up in a web of trouble”

Psalm 107:10 “Some sat in darkness and deepest gloom, imprisoned in iron chains of misery.

The meaning of a prison is to be lonely, in a dark place, imprisoned by chains. Wrong choices lead to prisons, or we are imprisoned due to unforeseen circumstances.

Many of the great characters of the biblical story experienced periods of imprisonment — Joseph, Samson, Jeremiah, Micaiah, Daniel, John the Baptist, Peter, James, John, Silas, Paul, and even Jesus himself, who was held in custody between his arrest and execution.

Isaiah 61:7 (NIV) “Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.”

What a promise of double for your trouble! Double the blessing, double the joy, double the peace!

Romans 12:12 (NLT) “Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.”

Let’s go back to Psalm 107 13 “Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. 14 He led them from the darkness and deepest gloom; he snapped their chains. 15 Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. 16 For he broke down their prison gates of bronze; he cut apart their bars of iron.”

Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed me. To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners”

Psalm 68:6 “God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity”

Zechariah 9:11 “As for you also, because of the blood of My covenant with you, I have set your prisoners free from the waterless pit”

Psalm 142:7 “Bring my soul out of prison, So that I may give thanks to Your name; The righteous will surround me, For You will deal bountifully with me.”
