God performed many miracles through Elijah, including resurrection (raising the dead), bringing fire down from the sky, and entering Heaven alive "by fire". Elijah knew the power of God, and he knew that nothing was impossible for God.

One of the highlights of Elijah was when the prophets of Baal were defeated, hurling heavenly fire to consume the soaked sacrifice in Kings 18. In the next chapter he fears for his life. His life is under attack and Jezebel has threaten to kill him.

1 Kings 19:1 (MSG) “Ahab reported to Jezebel everything that Elijah had done, including the massacre of the prophets. Jezebel immediately sent a messenger to Elijah with her threat: “The gods will get you for this and I’ll get even with you! By this time tomorrow you’ll be as dead as any one of those prophets.”

The strategy of the enemy is always to threating us. When you at your lowest, that is when Satan will put on his biggest fight. Remember, Satan is the father of the lies. John 8:44b (AMP) “He (Satan) was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar and the father of lies and half-truths.”

There is no truth in Satan. Five hundred years ago, Michel de Montaigne said: "My life has been filled with terrible misfortune; most of which never happened.” Resource has shown that 97 percent of what you worry over is not much more than a fearful mind punishing you with exaggerations and misperceptions.

The problem Elijah had was that he considered the threat of Jezebel. He gave it a thought. Elijah was filled will fear and said, “I’ve had enough”

I Kings 19:4 (EHV) But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. There he sat down under a broom tree, where he prayed that he would die. He said, “I’ve had enough, Lord. Take my life, for I am no better than my fathers.”

Maybe you find yourself in the same position today, discouraged, or fearful? Your faith is wavering? You feel that you had enough. You want to run away. When Elijah’s faith faltered, he ran away.

Let’s look at how God deals with us when we are at low places. Elijah is tired and hungry. He is physically worn out. As Elijah laid awaiting death, an angel of God woke him up and asked him to arise and eat. God gave him hot cake and water in the desert. God meets him at the level of his need.

1 Kings 19:5 (ESV) “And he lay down and slept under a broom tree. And behold, an angel touched him and said to him, “Arise and eat.”

Maybe you think you have reached the end of road. Arise and eat, for you still have a great journey ahead of you. You have not reached your destination yet. May the Almighty God feed you with manna from Heaven. May God refresh your soul with His living springs.

I conclude with Matthew 11:28 (MSG) “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
